Our Workshops
Do you struggle to make inclusion meaningful?
Are you looking for ways to make PSHE, British Values and SMSC more directly relevant to your pupils or students?
We are Toby and Helen Hewson. We both have cerebral palsy, use wheelchairs for mobility and communication aids to speak.
Until COVID forced us to stop, we ran Just Different, a company that brought people with disabilities into schools to run workshops and interact with young people. Between us, we have a wealth of experience of speaking to audiences. As well as our work in schools and with industry, Toby has addressed select groups in the Houses of Parliament and audiences in 10 Downing Street and is an active member of a number of different organisations including 1Voice, Communication Matters and Independent Living. Helen assists speech and language therapy students at Birmingham University and is also involved with 1Voice and Communication Matters.
Toby and Helen are available for workshops and sessions in schools. Our workshops are positive and interactive and the aim is to get audiences comfortable with disabled people and to see beyond the wheelchairs and the voice aids. Our aim is to ‘Let them see that although we are different from them, we are in fact, just the same as them. We do everything that they do but we may have to do it in a slightly different way.’
We don’t run these workshops for any monetary gain to ourselves. We will however request that you make a donation to cover expenses and running costs.

I am Toby. Thank you for viewing website. I like taking my wife out to eat good food . I love going holidays skiing and I can’t wait for March because last 2 years no skiing . I am 42 I am young ? I do referee Boccia for England and I played Boccia for 10 years for England . I hope we can help you.

Helen Hewson
About Me
Hi I’m Helen, I have had Cerebral Palsy since birth but have never let this stop me living life to the full and achieving what I want to. As well as my academic achievements, I enjoy a wide variety
of activities, from Skiing to Horse Riding and swimming. I also like going to the Cinema and seeing shows at the Theatre. I like getting out and about and seeing different places and travelling to
different places on holiday with my husband Toby. I enjoy adventure holidays going Canoeing, going down zip wires and Abseiling .
